Understanding Usage Limits in Raven
The majority of Raven’s 30+ tools are available to all our customers as often and as much as they’d like to use them – for example, we offer unlimited websites and profiles, unlimited white labeling and management of as many social media accounts as you want.
But there are a few tools that have specific usage limitations, and it’s helpful to know about them ahead of time so there are no surprises.
In this post, we’ll go over the details of those tools, their limits and how to find information on where you stand with them anytime.
How do I find my usage stats?
If you are the account owner, simply navigate to Preferences > Usage to view an easy-to-read breakdown.
If you don’t own the account, you will be unable to access this feature, but you can still view your usage levels for each individual tool with limits. In any of these tools you can also mouse over the usage area to see details about overage costs per tool.
Here is a list of all the tools with usage limits, including a screenshot of where allotted amounts and usage is displayed.
Most of the tools that have usage limits are under the SEO section of Raven, though you can find some under Social and Content as well.
Pro: 50,000 link records. Overage: $0.002 each additional link.
Agency: 150,000 link records. Overage $0.001 each additional link.
Link Manager is your one-stop shop for any link-building efforts.
Next to the Add Link button in the main Link Manager view, you will see a large number that indicates how many links you have in Link Manager (Remember, usage limits for Link Manager are for the entire account) next to a smaller number, which is the usage limit.
In this example, we see 150,000 link records, which is the Agency account limit before incurring overages.
Pro: 25,000 link checks. Overage: $0.005 per additional check.
Agency: 100,000 link checks. Overage: $0.004 per additional check.
Link monitoring is a feature that allows you to automatically check your links. You can find this option within the Link Manager in the Tool Options menu.
Navigating to Link Monitoring will display a pop-up window, where you’ll see information on how many link checks you have set for your account, how many you have used during the billing cycle, and how many you have left.
Link monitoring resets with each billing cycle. For instance, if your billing starts the 16th of each month, the link monitoring available checks will go back to zero on the 16th of the following month. With an Agency account, it will reset to 100,000 the first day of your billing cycle.
Pro: 20 reports per billing cycle. Overage: $2 per additional report.
Raven’s Site Finder is a great way to find new, quality link building opportunities.
If you are an Agency account holder, you can generate an unlimited number of reports here. Pro account holders can generate 20 reports per billing cycle. Much the same as Link Monitoring, usage is on a per billing cycle basis, resetting at the beginning of the billing cycle.
Pro: 40 reports per billing cycle. Overage: $1 per additional report.
A research powerhouse, Backlink Explorer gathers all the backlinks for a domain or URL, including source URL, Citation Flow and even no-follow status.
When it comes to usage, Backlink Explorer works exactly the same as Link Monitoring and Site Finder, with the allotted amount resetting at the beginning of the billing cycle.
The only social media tool with usage limits in Raven is Social Monitor, which can be used to monitor brand or product keywords, industry terms, competitor mentions and more.
Pro: 20 searches per month. Overage: $2.50 per additional search.
Agency: 50 searches per month. Overage: $2 per additional search.
Usage limits here apply for the entire account and throughout the life of the account. Since social media monitoring is ongoing, limits not reset at the end of each billing cycle like several of the other tools with limits.
Usage can be seen at the top right of the page, keeping the same style and context as many of the other tools.
In this particular example, the searches are over the allotment for the account, so there will be overages.
The only limit when it comes to Raven’s content tools is in our Scribe tool.
Pro: 20 analyses per month. Overage: $0.27 per additional analyses.
Agency: 50 analyses per month. Overage: $0.27 per additional analyses.
Once you’ve filed a new piece of content in Content Manager, including the fields of title tag and meta description, you’ll see the Analyze with Scribe button on the right.
Every time a piece of content is analyzed it will count towards your usage. Usage for this tool is on a per-account basis and resets at the beginning of the billing cycle.
(Note: If you have a Scribe account, you can enter the API key to rely on that usage rather than Raven’s. The usage at the top will then indicate Scribe API Usage instead.)
Finally, there is a limit on the number of users an account can have.
Pro: Four individual logins. Overage: $19 per month for each extra user.
Pro accounts can have up to four individual logins, which includes the account owner and up to three sub-users. Agency accounts can have an unlimited number of sub-users.
Unless you are the owner of the account or a sub-user with admin rights, you will not be able to see any references about this particular usage.
With all this in mind, you can keep a close eye on your account usage and avoid any unnecessary overages.
