Tip Tuesday: Using Link Alerts

With Raven’s recent update to our link monitoring function, I wanted to point out a quick, simple way to implement this, especially to new users.

If you have just started using Raven, you may have a spreadsheet of links that you acquired in the past. You can import them into Raven to monitor those links in the future.

If you have a spreadsheet of links that you’d like to import into Raven, just navigate to the Link Manager and select “Import Links”. The first option you see will be to import your current links.

The main thing to remember here is that your CSV must match our sample CSV for proper import. All you need to do is check out our sample CSV layout via the link directly above the link import form. Not every field needs to be filled out, but the CSV you upload needs to be in the same format for a proper import.

Once you’ve selected your CSV, you can decide whether or not you’d like to monitor the links you are importing. If you select link monitoring, you’ll be alerted every 30 days on the following options:

  • Link Text – If the link text (anchor text) has changed
  • Link URL – If the link itself has changed
  • Nofollow - If the link has changed to nofollow
  • mozRank - If the mozRank of the page changes

You can select which of these alerts you’d like to receive at the very bottom of the main Link Manager window.

Setting up link alerts for links you built before you started using Raven ensures that all of your hard work stays intact.
