Tip Tuesday: Finding website contacts in Raven

When building links, submitting press releases or finding other opportunities online, locating contact information is one of the most tedious parts of the process. Once you find a site that is a fit for your campaign, it could easily take twice as much time to find contact information for the website than it did finding the site itself. With Raven’s new feature to help you find contacts automatically, you can now put the time you’d normally spend digging for contact info into finding more linking opportunities.

You can access our “Find Contacts” feature in four places:

Link Manager and the Firefox Toolbar “Add Link” button

Raven has always had a space for you to add contact information to individual link records, as long as you already had the information. Now we can help you find available contact information in roughly one to two minutes. When you create a new link record, either in the Link Manager or with the Firefox Toolbar “Add Link” button, click on the “Find Contacts” link:

Adding Website contacts

Once the query finishes running, you’ll be presented with the Top 10 contacts we could find. Add as few or as many of them as you’d like, and they will be associated with the individual link record you are creating.

Contact Manager

Within the Contact Manager, you can quickly look through all of the contacts you have added from individual link records. The Contact Manager is universal, so even if you have a contact from a site within another Profile, you can easily track it down. Now, you can also quickly look up contacts for any URL you input.

Search your Contacts

Once the search finishes, you’ll see the following information: a score, given to weight the best contacts found, name, email address, phone number, job title, company they work for and a link to the page where the information was found. You can select any of the contacts that you’d like to add to the Contact Manager simply by checking the box next to their name and selecting “Add Contacts.”

Website Directory

Like the Contact Manager, the Website Directory is also global across all Websites and Profiles, giving you access to information about link building efforts throughout your Raven account. The Website Directory gives you a ton of information, including a score from the Quality Analyzer, mozRank, Alexa Rank, active links, paid links, pages indexed in Google and Yahoo!, backlinks from Yahoo! and several other authority scores from SEOmoz.

If you come across a website you already have entered in the Website Directory (which collects data from all link records added via the Link Manager, you can easily select “Find Contacts” to discover contacts and add them to the Contact Manager.
