SEOmoz’s faux Facebook Status Optimizer caused quite a stir, and why not? Just who wouldn’t want their Facebook status optimized?

Facebook is unique in that it is able to data mine social patterns between real life friends. This is increasingly critical data because as our lives become more busy, automation of simple tasks like social networking become more necessary.

Google Renames ‘Caffeine’ to ‘Kaffein’

it’s not often that a tech giant such as Google changes the name of a much publicized update. However, with due consideration given to the Mormons and their dietary restrictions (caffeine), Google renamed the update to Kaffein. SEO Roundtable has more on this story.

To say Google was big on information would be a huge understatement, but what about the information of language? YouTube Introduces ‘Text-Only’ Mode

24 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. Since 1080p and HD uploads are steadily increasing, YouTube decided that cutting costs was in order and have introduced Text-Only mode. If you use Text-Only mode you’ll be saving YouTube a whopping $1 a second.

Vowel Outage

If you checked your GMail inbox yesterday you may have noticed a rather unusual occurance – all the vowels were missing. This was due to a data center error which began with the letter ‘a’ and escalated to ‘e’, ‘i’, ‘o’, and ‘u’. Read more about this outage at the Official GMail blog.
