Security Update Released for Firefox 2

Mozilla released a security update for Firefox 2. The new update brings the current version to 2.0.0.1. Depending on your Firefox preferences, you will either get a popup window or you’ll need to click on Help > Check for Updates… from the menu. There were a total of five critical bugs (one of them only affecting Windows), two high priority bugs and one low priority bug. The full list of fixes are below:

  • XSS using outer window’s Function object
  • RSS Feed-preview referrer leak
  • Mozilla SVG Processing Remote Code Execution
  • XSS by setting img.src to javascript: URI
  • LiveConnect crash finalizing JS objects
  • Privilege escallation using watch point
  • CSS cursor image buffer overflow (Windows only)
  • Crashes with evidence of memory corruption
