Raven hires two new Ones

The Tallest One

Brannan Atkinson

Brannan Atkinson has joined Raven Internet Marketing Tools as chief marketing officer. Brannan has nearly two decades of marketing and public relations experience. Most recently, he served as president of Atkinson Public Relations.

Brannan leads Raven’s marketing team of Taylor Pratt, Alison Groves, Courtney Seiter and yours truly, Arienne Holland.

“I’m so glad I don’t have to report to Jon Henshaw anymore, because that guy was wearing me out,” Alison said.

“Our discussion of pugs has increased 100%. Which I like,” Courtney said.

Brannan also has known Raven’s President and CEO Patrick Keeble since elementary school. “I owed him money,” Patrick joked. But seriously: “He is a leader. I have worked with him in the past, and I like his approach. I trust him, and he will make this company better.” The rest of us are looking up to him, too. Literally. Brannan is 6’8″ tall.

In fine Raven tradition, I asked Brannan to pick out 10 questions to answer from the famous Vanity Fair Proust questionnaire. “I didn’t know therapy was part of the job,” he wrote back.

  1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
The dog park on a cool morning with my three pugs and my wife, Amy. And probably a Starbucks venti hazelnut latte.
  2. What is your greatest fear?
Spiders. And I went to the University of Richmond. Mascot: Spiders.
  3. What is your favorite journey?
Learning a new skill. I wrote two screenplays a few years ago. Both sucked, by the way. But I enjoyed learning about screenwriting and how to craft a story.
  4. What do you most value in your friends?
  5. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Really. And I really want to stop.
  6. Which talent would you most like to have?
    Being able to draw well.
  7. Who are your favorite writers?
    Vince Flynn and Daniel Silva.
  8. Who are your heroes in real life?
My father, my stepfather and my father-in-law. I got lucky across the board.
  9. If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
    A pug in my house.
  10. What is your motto?
    Never believe your own hype.

The Newest One

Lance Conzett

Lance Conzett has joined Raven Internet Marketing Tools as a user support specialist. Conzett has more than five years of writing/editing and digital media experience. He previously worked as a Media Technology Analyst at Journal Communications Inc.

  1. Who are your favorite writers?
John Hodgman, Neil Gaiman, John Darnielle. I’m currently in the throes of deciding on whether or not I want to have something by poet Derrick C. Brown tattooed on my body.
  2. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Passing a Secret Service background check to get my debate hall credentials when I covered the presidential debate at Belmont in 2008 with my campus newspaper. You wouldn’t believe how much of a relief it is to definitively know that you haven’t done any crimes in your sleep.
  3. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
    “I know that’s right.”
  4. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
    I wish I was a little bit taller. I wish I was a baller.
  5. What is your greatest extravagance?
I have a distinct affinity for obsolete and impractical music formats. Not only do I have somewhere in the area of 500 vinyl records, I still make mixtapes using cassettes. Being so defiantly old school is hard work.
  6. Which talent would you most like to have?
My desire to learn how to skateboard is at constant war with my love of having unbroken bones.
  7. What is it that you most dislike?
    Comments sections on news websites.
  8. What is your greatest fear?
  9. What do you most value in your friends?
An acute ability to put up with me talking about the famously terrible movie The Room basically all the time.
  10. What is your most treasured possession?
At risk of betraying just how big a nerd I really am: a Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book signed by Joss Whedon. I promise it has real sentimental value and not just dork value (but it has plenty of dork value).
