I’m hot-natured and I crave air conditioning. This is especially true for where I live — Nashville, TN. Having the climate control set to around 72 degrees Farenheit is heaven for me. At work, when it’s not in the triple digits like it was the entire month of August 2007, our office stays relatively cool. I’m fortunate enough to have my desk right underneath an air conditioning vent, providing me enough cool air for perfect body temperature homeostasis.
However, there’s a cruel consequence to being close to an air conditioning vent, cold hands! Although the majority of my body enjoys the cool breeze from the vent, my hands feel like they’re going to freeze up and then crack into little pieces. Unlike the rest of my body, which has more than sufficient fat cells to keep me comfortable, my hands, like most everyone else’s, are bony, naked and
scared seeking refuge from the cold. I knew I had a problem when I actually started to type slower. It seemed like my joints and muscles were holding a formal protest, demanding clothing and shelter like the rest of my body. I knew I had to take action.
I found my answer at Etsy, a place that sells handmade goodies from people all over the country. My hands found refuge with Baby Pop Design’s black alien fingerless gloves. It was the first time I had ever ordered anything from Etsy and the transaction went surprisingly well. The owner of Baby Pop Designs, Sherry A., was extremely helpful and nice. She even emailed me after the order to verify the size of gloves I needed. Needless to say, I required the manly-man size.
So, here I am, typing this blog entry while wearing my alien gloves. The gloves are made with polar fleece and feel really soft (unlike wool). They’re also really warm, but not too warm. If you’re like me, and you suffer from cold hand syndrome brought on by an artificial environmental climate control system, then these are the gloves for you. If you don’t like aliens, she has plenty more gloves for you to choose from.
