BarCamp Nashville 2009

Over the weekend I had the pleasure in not only attending BarCamp Nashville, but speaking on two different panels. This was the third BarCamp held in Nashville, and was further proof that not only is there tons of talent in this town, but the sense of community is very alive and well. Major kudos goes out to Chuck Bryant and the rest of the planning team for a virtually flawless event in an even more perfect venue than I ever could’ve imagined.

My first panel of the day was Don’t Spew Link Vomit: Brand the Good Stuff! I had the absolute pleasure of moderating this session with Knight Stivender, Courtney Seiter, and Eric Shuff, all members of the digital team over at branding all of the links they share. Knight came up to me prior to our session so excited to share some data she had mined from her site analytics, which showed us that 92% of their click-throughs came from their branded shortener. She talks about that and more in the panel, which we have video of the entire session to share. You can’t see us or the slides, but you can hear well. Think the old days of radio!

Comments on our presentation are aggregated under the #bcn09linkvomit hashtag if you’d like to check out the conversation, and huge thanks to Dan Morris for calling us his favorite session of the day. Too kind!

I was also asked to host the very first Ignite Nashville event which may have looked/felt a bit hacky as we all tried to figure things out on the fly, but I think all of those in attendance will agree with me that the presentations that were given were downright amazing. Looking forward to the next one after PodCamp in March.

Thanks again to all of the volunteers and sponsors of the event. It’s always fantastic to connect with the local community where we unite over one common thing: our love of technology.
